Why grow elephant foot yam (suran) in Jammu & Kashmir?
Elephant foot yam (Amorphophallus spp.), locally called suran, can be a remunerative tuber crop for warmer low-elevation pockets of Jammu & Kashmir (Jammu plains, lower hills). It fits well into diversified farms: high market demand, long storage life of tubers, and the option to produce seed corms for sale.
