The agronomy is the product.
The control software is free and runs on your own board, on your own network, and phones nobody. The articles are free and always will be. What is worth paying for is the part that took a season to validate: staged recipes with the reasoning behind every band, and the desktop application that reads the logs your rooms produce.

What "one payment" means here
You keep it
There is no subscription and nothing expires. The files are yours, downloadable whenever you want them, using the email address you paid with. No account, no password, nothing to lose access to.
It is version 1
You get everything published under version 1, including species added to it later. A future version 2 will be a separate purchase with an upgrade price for owners. Saying so now is the only honest way to sell a one-time price for something that is still being worked on.
The application keeps running
A Pro licence includes twelve months of updates. After that date the application does not stop, expire or nag — it simply stops accepting builds newer than your licence. What you installed keeps working for as long as the machine does.
What stays free
Every article on this site, permanently. The node build guide, the bill of materials and the wiring diagrams, permanently. Somebody reading that parts list is deciding whether to spend nine thousand rupees on hardware, and that is not the moment to ask them for two hundred more.
There is no article paywall on this site and there will not be one. It cannot be enforced in a browser, it falls hardest on the readers who read most, and it would put at risk the organic traffic that every sale here depends on.
