Its broad tolerance for soil types and capacity to produce high-value fruits for fresh markets and processing makes it a practical enterprise for smallholders and homesteads. However, heavy monsoon rains and periodic waterlogging mean site selection and drainage are critical.

  • Climate: Warm, humid conditions with protected exposure to heavy winds. Avoid exposed hilltops where fruit drop and wind damage increase.
