Ask

Ask in ordinary words. Get an answer you can check.

Type a question the way you would say it out loud. The answer comes from this site’s own tables — 24,425 guides and growing notes for 538 crops — and every figure can be traced back to the row it came from.

Each one is a real question it handles.

The whole site in six steps

This is what it says if you ask it to show you around.

Written out here as well, so it works with the sound off, with images blocked, and for anyone who would rather read than chat.

  1. What this place is

This is a farming reference that answers back. 24,425 written guides, growing notes for 538 crops, and a set of tools that do the arithmetic for you.

The whole site is arranged around four questions. That is the only structure you need to learn.

  2. The four questions

What changed? — the front page. What is true today.

Why is this happening? — the workings behind anything I say.

What happens next? — the year ahead, month by month.

What should I do? — try a decision before you take it.

    What changed What happens next

  3. The dial on the front page

It looks like a wheel with twelve spokes. Each spoke is one subject I am supposed to know about — soil, water, crops, money, and so on.

How far a spoke reaches is how much of that subject I can actually see. A dotted spoke means I am half blind there. A spoke with nothing on it means I am fully blind.

Today the whole thing sits at 57%. Most farming software shows you a full dashboard whether or not it knows anything. This one shows you the holes.

  4. Trying a decision first

Pick a crop and an area, and you get three outcomes: a bad year, a good year, and the middle.

Those are not predictions. They are the lowest and highest figures the reference states, carried through the sums. The gap between them is the honest uncertainty and nothing here narrows it.

It also lists what it refused to work out. If a crop is measured in stems or cubic metres, it will not pretend that is tonnes.

    Try it

  5. Making it yours

Everything so far is the same for everyone. The one part that becomes yours is memory.

Write down a field, the decision you took, and what you got at the end of the season. Next time, the range I quote you can be narrowed by your own result rather than by a model.

There are no accounts here. What you record stays in your browser unless you enter an address, and I will always tell you which of the two is happening.

    Farm memory

  6. Where the words come from

Nothing on this site is written by an AI. Every figure traces back to a row, and every claim on the front page has a “why” link that shows the working.

If I cannot back something up, I say I do not know. That happens more often than you might expect, and it is the point.

  7. Where to go next

That is the tour. If you only do one thing today: 104 crops suit September, and the ones with a deadline are worth looking at first.

You can ask me anything from any page. I stay with you as you move around.

Is this an AI?

No, and here is exactly what it is instead.

No. There is no AI here, and no chatbot service behind me.

I am a set of rules reading this site’s own tables: growing notes for 538 crops, 24,425 guides, and today’s date. Every sentence I say is built from a row you can go and look at.

That is on purpose. A model that guesses a seed rate or a spray dose sounds exactly as confident when it is wrong, and in farming that costs a season. I would rather tell you I do not know.

The typing you see is just how the text is shown. The whole answer arrives at once — it is revealed slowly because that is easier to read.

A layer is “answering” only when it has data behind it — not when its file happens to be loaded. A capability that leads to an empty screen is a bug report waiting to happen.
