Site and soil requirements

Choose a site with deep, well-drained soils and good organic matter. Kola performs best on soils that are not waterlogged and have moderate fertility. Avoid heavy clay pans and seasonally flooded depressions. A slightly acidic to neutral pH is acceptable; if pH is strongly acidic, include liming in your preparation plan.
