In rice-growing areas — the so-called Rice Bowl regions — Kadaknath can be integrated into existing systems with low capital if you match the bird’s needs to the crop calendar. This guide gives practical steps from brooding to selling, with specific tips for growers who want to combine paddy and poultry for extra income and better resource use.

Planning and farm layout

Decide scale first: backyard flocks (10–50 birds), small commercial (50–500), or larger. Consider the cropping calendar: paddy fields are occupied during transplanting and standing water periods; birds do best during dry or post-harvest windows when fields are fallow and pests are exposed.

  • Select a compact area near the farmhouse for housing, feed storage and ease of monitoring.
