  • Dye strength: small-scale testing is practical—apply paste to a scrap of fabric or hair sample and observe stain color and development over 24–48 hours.
  • Smell and cleanliness: no musty odors; avoid contamination with soil, insects or foreign plant material.

Pests and Diseases—Practical Controls

  • Common issues: sap-sucking insects, scale, aphids and occasional fungal leaf spots in humid conditions.
