  • pH: It tolerates mildly acidic to mildly alkaline soils; aim for a pH around neutral if you can test and amend.

  • Harvest method: For small trees, hand-picking is economical. For taller trees, use long-handled pole harvesters or climb safely. Avoid breaking branches; harvestable pods are borne on terminal shoots.
  • Foliage harvest: Leaves may also be used for some products; harvest selectively so you don’t defoliate trees heavily, which reduces next season’s yield.
