System Overview

The perimeter monitoring system consists of two main components: the field device and the mobile app. The field device includes several sensors (motion and laser), a NodeMCU microcontroller, and a power supply. It monitors activities around the perimeter of the field and transmits data to the mobile app via iCloud and Cayenne platforms. The data can also be accessed on a webserver, allowing the field status to be monitored from anywhere.

Setting Up the Circuit

Follow these steps to connect the hardware components:

    • Power the sensors using the +5V and GND from the power supply.
  2. Laser Sensors:
    • Connect the laser sensor outputs to pins 3, 4, and 5 of the Arduino Uno.
    • Similarly, power these sensors using the +5V and GND connections.
  3. Power Supply:
    • Attach a 12V/1A power supply to the DC jack of the Arduino Uno to ensure a steady power source.
  4. Communication Between NodeMCU and Arduino:
    • Link the D7 and D8 pins of the NodeMCU to the TX and RX pins of the Arduino, respectively.
