Kalmegh is typically harvested 70–100 days after sowing depending on planting time and purpose. For leaf and aerial parts used medicinally, harvest when plants are in full vegetative growth but before heavy flowering for best phytochemical content; some buyers prefer early flowering stage — check market requirements.

Harvesting and post-harvest handling

  • Harvest by cutting the aerial parts 5–10 cm above ground to allow regrowth if a second cut is planned; otherwise, a single harvest at maturity is common.

  • Diversifying crops and selling to reliable buyers or under contract where possible.
  • Staggering plantings to spread harvest and market timing.
