Why pearl millet (bajra) for Madhya Pradesh?

  • Rainfed systems: conservation practices (contour bunds, small field bunds, residue mulching) help retain soil moisture.

  • Storage: clean grain, remove broken seeds and store in dry, pest-free containers. Treatments or fumigation are options if storage pests are a problem.

For dual-purpose crops grown for fodder and grain, stagger harvests or leave extra stubbles for fodder.
