Choose the right variety

Match variety to market and microclimate. Common choices in the Cauvery region include:

  • Jasminum sambac (Mogra) — Highly aromatic, preferred for garlands and temple use. Blooms repeatedly; good for near-market production.
  • Jasminum grandiflorum (Spanish/Spanish jasmine) — Larger flowers, used in perfume and extraction; may suit growers targeting oil or distillation buyers.
  • Jasminum auriculatum — Vigorous and adaptable; used locally for garlands.

Site selection and soil
