Cranberries are traditionally a bog crop adapted to cool climates, acidic peat soils, and a high water table. The Deccan Plateau has a warm, seasonally dry climate and alkaline to neutral soils in many areas. That does not make cranberry farming impossible, but it does mean you must alter the growing environment: provide an acidic growing medium, reliable irrigation with flood/drain capability for certain operations, and choose trial sites at higher elevation or cooler microclimates.
