Choose the right site

Key site factors:

  • Elevation and temperature: Hops prefer cool growing seasons with a distinct winter dormancy. Select sites with summer temperatures not persistently above 28–30°C and with a reliable winter chill.
  • Sunlight: Full sun for most of the day is required for best cone production—aim for 6–8 hours of direct sun.
