Is cranberry farming feasible in the Gangetic Plains?

Cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon and related species) are wetland-adapted, acid-soil plants traditionally grown in temperate, cool regions on peat or sand beds with controlled water. The Gangetic Plains do not naturally provide the classic cranberry environment: they are warmer, have lower winter chill, and typical soils are neutral to alkaline.
