Climate, soil and site selection

  • Climate: Mangosteen requires high humidity and stable temperatures (ideally 22–32°C). It is sensitive to dry spells and cold winds. Choose low-elevation, sheltered sites in Nagaland’s valleys or foothills where fog and humidity persist.
  • Rainfall: Needs consistent rainfall; supplemental irrigation helps in dry months to sustain flowering and fruit set.
