Climate and sowing windows

Broccoli is best grown as a cool-season crop. In Haryana you have two practical windows:

  • Primary rabi crop: start nursery in September and transplant from late September through November to harvest in winter.
  • Late winter/early spring crop: sow nursery in December–January and transplant in January–February for a late-winter to spring harvest where temperatures remain mild.

Crop rotation and sustainability

Rotate broccoli with non-crucifer crops to reduce pest and disease buildup. Incorporate legumes into rotations to improve soil nitrogen and structure. Keep records on variety performance, pest issues and yields to improve decisions year to year.
