Quinoa is a cereal crop, grown in the rabi season. Sow it in Oct–Nov and expect to harvest in 90–120 days. It wants a pH of 6.0–8.5 (on the alkaline side) and 15–25°C. Plant at 45 × 15 cm, allowing 5–8 kg of seed per hectare. A good crop returns around 1.5–2.5 t. Watch for downy mildew, leaf miner.
