Hemp (Fibre) is a fibre crop, grown in the kharif season. Sow it in Jun–Jul and expect to harvest in 100–120 days. It wants a pH of 6.0–7.5 (close to neutral) and 15–27°C. Plant at 30 × 10 cm, allowing 40–50 kg of seed per hectare. A good crop returns around 6–9 t stalk. Watch for grey mould, borer.
