Sorghum (Jowar) is a millet crop, grown in the kharif · rabi season. Sow it in Jun–Jul, Sep–Oct and expect to harvest in 100–120 days. It wants a pH of 6.0–7.5 (close to neutral) and 26–32°C. Plant at 45 × 15 cm, allowing 10–12 kg of seed per hectare. A good crop returns around 2.5–4 t. Watch for shoot fly, midge, downy mildew.
