  • Hass fruits do not ripen on the tree; harvest when dry matter and skin colour meet market standards. For local markets, pick when size and development are adequate; for export, follow buyer specifications.
  • Handle fruit carefully to avoid bruises. Use padded bins and shade to keep fruits cool after picking.
  • Postharvest cold storage protocols depend on destination: local sale needs gentle handling and cool storage; export requires specific protocols for temperature, humidity, and possibly postharvest treatments—work with packhouses and exporters.
