Site selection and climate

Lavender prefers:

  • Full sun exposure (6–8 hours daily).
  • Well-drained soils; it does not tolerate waterlogged conditions.
  • Cooler temperatures during flowering. In Karnataka, higher-altitude sites (hill stations, elevated plateau areas) are generally more suitable than hot, humid lowlands.
