Strawberry

The lowest EC on this list and the tightest tolerance for getting it wrong. Strawberry roots are shallow, fine and intolerant of both drought and standing water, so the useful dryback window is narrow — a tomato dryback applied here is simply damage. The reward is that this is the highest value per square metre of anything in the module, which is why a table-top system that already exists is usually worth instrumenting before a new one is built.

Species
Fragaria x ananassa
System
Drip — rockwool, coco or Dutch bucket
Version
1.0.0
Provenance
Day-neutral substrate strawberry practice as run in Mahabaleshwar and Himachal table-top systems, with a lower EC ceiling than European practice because the fruit is sold fresh and salt shows in the taste.

What kills this system: Runoff volume per shot and a substrate water-content floor. A clogged emitter shows up as runoff that stops arriving.

The Strawberry profile is a paid crop pack. The bands, the irrigation phases and the reasoning are in the file; what is below is the shape of it.

Every band on this site is a literature-derived starting point. None of them has been measured on your water, your cultivar or your polyhouse, and the variable that decides most of it — the alkalinity of what comes out of your borewell — is one this page cannot know. Validate on a small block before you commit a season.
