Capsicum

Capsicum is the crop where steering pays most obviously and where blossom end rot punishes it hardest. That rot is not a calcium deficiency in the solution — the solution is nearly always fine. It is a calcium *transport* failure, caused by a fruit that transpires little being outcompeted by leaves that transpire a lot, which is exactly what a hard generative setting plus a high daytime deficit produces. Steer generative at night and moderate the midday deficit; the module cannot do that for you, but the runoff EC and the day/night split shown on the steering screen are the two numbers to watch while you do.

Species
Capsicum annuum
System
Drip — rockwool, coco or Dutch bucket
Version
1.0.0
Provenance
Coloured bell pepper substrate practice. The generative range is wider than tomato because capsicum tolerates and rewards it; the calcium note is the failure this crop is famous for.

What kills this system: Runoff volume per shot and a substrate water-content floor. A clogged emitter shows up as runoff that stops arriving.

The Capsicum profile is a paid crop pack. The bands, the irrigation phases and the reasoning are in the file; what is below is the shape of it.

Every band on this site is a literature-derived starting point. None of them has been measured on your water, your cultivar or your polyhouse, and the variable that decides most of it — the alkalinity of what comes out of your borewell — is one this page cannot know. Validate on a small block before you commit a season.
