Pink oyster
Pleurotus djamor · PD-Local · v2.0.0
The summer species, and the reason a small Indian farm can run through May without buying refrigeration. It fruits at ambient across most of the country from March to October. Very short shelf life — two days, not seven — so it only pays where there is a same-day market.
Spawn run
Advances after 10 days, or when you say so| Signal | Target | Band | Switches on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air temperature | 30.0 °C | 29.0 °C – 31.0 °C | heater, cooler |
| Relative humidity | 85.0 % | 82.5 % – 87.5 % | humidifier |
| Carbon dioxide | 8,000 ppm | 6,500 ppm – 9,500 ppm | exhaust, intake |
| Light | dark | — | lights |
| Fresh air, minimum | 0.2 changes/hour | — | exhaust, intake |
Colonises fast — ten days rather than fourteen. Which is also why it outruns contaminants that would take a grey oyster block.
Vapour pressure deficit at these targets: 0.64 kPa. That is what 85% humidity means at 30.0 °C — the figure the crop responds to, and the one a hygrometer cannot show you.
Primordia initiation
Advances when you mark "pins observed", or after 4 days| Signal | Target | Band | Switches on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air temperature | 27.0 °C | 26.3 °C – 27.8 °C | heater, cooler |
| Relative humidity | 89.0 % | 87.5 % – 90.5 % | humidifier |
| Carbon dioxide | 700 ppm | 575 ppm – 825 ppm | exhaust, intake |
| Vapour pressure deficit | 0.39 kPa | 0.33 kPa – 0.45 kPa | humidifier, in advanced mode |
| Light | 12 h at 700 lux | — | lights |
| Fresh air, minimum | 4.0 changes/hour | — | exhaust, intake |
No cold shock needed. Light and fresh air alone will pin it, which is what makes this species cheap to run.
Vapour pressure deficit at these targets: 0.39 kPa. That is what 89% humidity means at 27.0 °C — the figure the crop responds to, and the one a hygrometer cannot show you.
Fruiting
Advances after 4 days, or when you say so| Signal | Target | Band | Switches on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air temperature | 27.0 °C | 26.0 °C – 28.0 °C | heater, cooler |
| Relative humidity | 87.0 % | 85.5 % – 88.5 % | humidifier |
| Carbon dioxide | 750 ppm | 600 ppm – 900 ppm | exhaust, intake |
| Vapour pressure deficit | 0.46 kPa | 0.39 kPa – 0.53 kPa | humidifier, in advanced mode |
| Light | 12 h at 700 lux | — | lights |
| Fresh air, minimum | 5.0 changes/hour | — | exhaust, intake |
At 27 C the air holds far more water than at 18 C, so the same 87% RH is a much larger deficit. This is the clearest case for running in VPD mode.
Vapour pressure deficit at these targets: 0.46 kPa. That is what 87% humidity means at 27.0 °C — the figure the crop responds to, and the one a hygrometer cannot show you.
Harvest
Advances when you mark "harvested", or after 1 days| Signal | Target | Band | Switches on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air temperature | 27.0 °C | 26.0 °C – 28.0 °C | heater, cooler |
| Relative humidity | 84.0 % | 82.0 % – 86.0 % | humidifier |
| Carbon dioxide | 900 ppm | 750 ppm – 1,050 ppm | exhaust, intake |
| Light | 12 h at 700 lux | — | lights |
| Fresh air, minimum | 4.0 changes/hour | — | exhaust, intake |
Pick young. A pink oyster left one day past its edge turns to leather.
Vapour pressure deficit at these targets: 0.57 kPa. That is what 84% humidity means at 27.0 °C — the figure the crop responds to, and the one a hygrometer cannot show you.
Alarms
These do not switch anything. They sit outside the control loop deliberately, so that a bug in the control logic cannot also silence the thing that wakes you.
- Air above 36 °C
- Air below 18 °C
- Humidity below 70%
- CO2 above 5,000 ppm

Optional, off by default, and it uses your own Anthropic API key rather than ours. It is shown the findings this page already computed and is told it may not invent a number — no setpoint, no threshold, no duty cycle. It ranks what matters and says it in two sentences. It is never in the control loop: nothing on your board waits on it, and if it is switched off everything here works exactly the same.
A room review sends about 2,000 tokens and gets back about 600 — roughly US$0.03, or under three rupees.

These targets are derived from published literature, not measured on your substrate, your strain or your room. Treat any recipe you have not validated on your own farm as a hypothesis. The yield log exists so that your second run can correct your first. Literature-derived. Not yet validated on a farm.
